Privacy Policy

Effective and last updated: August 8, 2026

Charleston After Hours provides a website and mobile application for discovering nightlife, live music, sports, food, festivals, and outdoor events in the Charleston, South Carolina area. This policy explains how Charleston After Hours accesses, uses, stores, and shares information when you use the service.

Information we access

Location

If you choose Use my location, the app requests foreground location access to calculate approximate distances to events. Depending on your device settings, this may be precise or approximate location. If device location is unavailable, the website may use an IP-based location service to estimate your general area. Location is optional, is used only for the distance feature, is not used for advertising, and is not stored in a Charleston After Hours user profile.

Saved plans and reminders

Events you save, reminder settings, and cached event details are stored locally on your browser or device. Reminders use your device's notification system. Charleston After Hours does not require an account and does not upload your saved plans or reminder choices to a Charleston After Hours account.

Technical information

Like most online services, our hosting and security providers may automatically process limited technical information such as IP address, browser or device type, request time, requested pages, and diagnostic or security logs. This information is used to deliver, protect, and troubleshoot the service. Essential security technologies, including cookies, may be used by the hosting provider. We do not use advertising cookies or behavioral advertising tools.

How information is used

  • To show nearby events and calculate distance when you request location-based results.
  • To save plans, create calendar files, share events, and schedule reminders you request.
  • To operate, secure, maintain, and improve the reliability of the service.
  • To respond to privacy, safety, or support inquiries.

We do not sell personal information and do not use personal information for targeted advertising.

When information is shared

We use service providers for website hosting, delivery, and security. These providers may process limited technical information on our behalf. If approximate IP-based location is needed, the location lookup provider receives the internet address necessary to return a general location. When you choose Google Calendar or Outlook Calendar, the event details you selected are sent to that calendar provider. When you share an event or open a ticket or event-provider link, information is handled by the app or website you choose under its own privacy policy.

Information may also be disclosed if required by law or when reasonably necessary to protect users, the public, or the service from fraud, abuse, or security threats.

Data retention and deletion

Saved plans, reminder information, and cached events remain on your device until you remove them, clear the site's or app's storage, or uninstall the app. Location used for distance calculations is kept only for the current app session and is not added to a user account. Operational and security logs are retained only as long as reasonably necessary for security, troubleshooting, legal compliance, and service operation, then deleted or de-identified according to the applicable provider's retention practices.

Because Charleston After Hours does not currently offer user accounts, there is no online account record to delete. You can delete locally stored app data through your device or browser settings. For help with a privacy or deletion request, use the developer contact email shown on the Charleston After Hours Google Play listing and include “Privacy request” in the subject line.

Security

We use encrypted HTTPS connections and reasonable technical and organizational safeguards. No system is completely secure, but we limit the information handled by the service and do not maintain user-account profiles for this app.

Children's privacy

Charleston After Hours is a general-audience event discovery service and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the service changes. The effective date at the top of this page will be revised when material changes are published.
